Anthony Mackie reveals hardest thing about working in MCU
Despite being a seasoned MCU veteran of a decade, Anthony Mackie acknowledges the challenges he faces within the MCU.
According to Anthony Mackie, acting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe differs from his role in the Paramount+ series Twisted Metal due to its controlled nature. “In the MCU,” Mackie explained to RadioTimes, “creativity is limited by the vast amount of established content from Stan Lee.” He emphasized that the Marvel environment restricts improvisation and personal touches.
“Whereas with [Twisted Metal], it was like, ‘There’s a guy and a girl… go!’ That freedom allowed us to build the world around them.”
What is Captain America: Brave New World about?
In “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will lead his own movie as the new Captain America. Danny Ramirez returns as Joaquin Torres (the new Falcon), alongside Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and Shira Haas as Sabra. Tim Blake Nelson and Liv Tyler reprise their roles as Samuel Sterns (The Leader) and Betsy Ross, respectively, marking their MCU returns since “The Incredible Hulk” (2008).
Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to premiere on February 14, 2025.
