*Abigail*, Melissa Barrera’s horror film, will release digitally tomorrow, two weeks after its theatrical debut on April 19th. The Radio Silence (Scream, Ready Or Not) production follows a kidnapped girl who turns out to be a vampire. Despite positive reviews and a $35 million box office gross, the film’s $28 million budget suggests it has yet to turn a profit. However, horror movies typically perform well on home release, and Radio Silence’s popularity could boost its digital success.
The movie will be available for purchase on Apple, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, and Google Play starting at 3 a.m. ET/midnight PT. Rental availability and timing are yet to be announced. Peacock streaming is likely, but the exact date is not confirmed.
In addition to Melissa Barrera, “Abigail” features an ensemble cast including Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, and Alisha Weir.
The film was produced by a prolific team, including William Sherak (Scream franchise, Ready or Not), Paul Neinstein (Scream franchise, executive producer, The Night Agent), and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, Scream franchise) from Project X Entertainment. Tripp Vinson (Ready or Not, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) and Radio Silence’s Chad Vilella (executive producer Ready or Not, Scream franchise) also contributed to the production. Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher served as executive producers.
Official synopsis:
From Radio Silence, the directing duo behind “Ready or Not,” “Scream” (2022), and “Scream VI,” comes a bold and bloodthirsty reimagining of the vampire genre. Written by Stephen Shields (“The Hole in the Ground,” “Zombie Bashers”) and Guy Busick (“Scream” franchise, “Ready or Not”), this new vision promises to captivate audiences.
